The Prado Theater was built on the old site of the house known in the 20th century as Palacio de los Medina or Palacio de los Rodríguez, a beautiful mansion considered architectural, tourist and cultural heritage of Medellín.
Thanks to the design of the master Laureano Forero, who generously donated the plans, the imposing building with a Palladian-style façade that preserves the wooden floors and baseboards and the plaster and gold leaf coffered ceiling, harmoniously gives way to the construction of a modern theater inaugurated in 2000 with capacity for 460 spectators, technically equipped with seating with backs, a cafeteria, rehearsal rooms, galleries for exhibiting works of art, 2 open-air terraces and an office area.
Since its inauguration, the Prado Theater has offered permanent programming with an average of 200 performances per year with works by the group El Águila Descalza and renowned guest artists, with the genre of comedy being its main vocation.
