The Barra del Silencio cultural corporation was founded in 1982 from the UPB Mimos group, a group of friends who worked in non-verbal theater, proposing works with a critical sense and seeking new forms of scenic communication with the public.
Today, we are a non-profit entity since 1999 dedicated to the creation, research, education and promotion of theater, especially non-verbality and other absences; with rigor, quality and professional ethics. We are in a constant process of research on the theater of silence, popular culture, image and different para-languages; whether with pantomime, maneuvers or in object animation. Techniques that support our montages about stories of events or characters from our culture.
Our works can be seen in all settings, starting in the rooms and passing through the streets or in all types of unconventional spaces. Our premise is respect for the public, their expectations and needs, and we seek to provide them with quality works without distinction of creed, race, gender or social condition.
Sensitivity and creativity are present in all our processes, and our main mission is to generate a permanent critical spirit framed in our creations, projects, inter-institutional agreements, extension and promotion programs; thus contributing to the social and cultural development of the community.
