Designed by local architects, the place has a series of wood and metal panels that simulate beehives from which trees and flowers - including orchids -, birds, butterflies and squirrels hang.
A reinvented place, as it has also become the epicenter of fairs and public events such as the Book Festival, Colombia Provoca, Otro Sabor, fashion shows, concerts, poetry recitals, and electronic music festivals, etc.
During the Flower Fair, the Orquideorama hosts the "Orchids, Birds and Flowers" event, which showcases the most beautiful natural species from both the local area and other regions of the country.
This place has been the winner of architectural and design awards such as the 2007 Lápiz de Acero and Lápiz de Acero Azul Architecture Prize, for the best architectural design, and the VI Ibero-American Biennial of Architecture and Urbanism, which was held in Lisbon, Portugal, in 2008.
